The town set amongst a remarkable landscape
Mayfield is located about 35km from Ashburton on the Inland Scenic Route 72 that runs through Mid Canterbury. The community can trace its roots back to 1879 when the first post office was established. The village has a shop, garage, tavern, local transport company and rural supply store. Mayfield is also a great place to discover country markets on the weekends.
About Mayfield
Mayfield is a rural community in the foothills close to the Southern Alps on the edge of the Canterbury Plains. Surrounded by the most majestic mountains, notably Mt Somers, Mt Hutt, Mt Peel and Surrey Hills. You will find a couple of great cafes as well as the very popular Panther's Rock who provide an authentic dining experience of rural Canterbury. Make sure you take time to visit Relic Revival, the town's second-hand shop where you'll find everything and anything you've ever needed but didn't know it..
