Montrose Estate is situated in the Canterbury High Country at the base of the Southern Alps. It is one hours drive south of Christchurch International Airport, 30 minutes drive from the Mt Hutt ski field and a ten-minute drive from the nearby township of Methven. 

This property is a 260 hectare (642 acres) private estate with 2km of river frontage on the Rakaia River with a stunning backdrop of mountain ranges. 

Accommodation at Montrose Estate consists of three separate self-contained houses referred to as ”Paewaka” the Original House,”Te Ata” the Cottage and”Hoturoa” the Owners Retreat. 

This accommodation varies from a 2 bedroom cottage to a brand new luxury 4 bedroom house. All accommodation offers free wi-fi and Sky television. 

Paewaka -The Original House – The Original House is a two-storey, four-bedroom wood and stone with cedar shingle roof dwelling overlooking the pond and Rakaia River. 

Te Ata- The Cottage – The stunning two-bedroom wooden cottage with a cedar shingle roof is nestled into the surrounding bush and overlooks the pond and Rakaia River. It is very private and is sited next to a beautiful stream. 

Hoturoa - The Owners Retreat – Perched on a hill overlooking the pond and Rakaia River is a brand new, 250sqm residence which was completed in December 2015. This four-bedroom, two-bathroom, two lounge room, single storey home has been beautifully appointed using the finest of materials from around the country.
