Located just one hour from Christchurch and only ten minutes from the local amenities of Methven this self-contained retreat is the perfect escape for couples and solo adventurers.
The space
Moe / Sleep
The retreat features a slightly elevated queen bed fitted with fresh linen sheets, hypoallergenic wool duvet inner, pillows and a locally crafted wool throw blanket to ensure that you have a comfortable stay.
Tunu / Cook
The kitchen is setup for self-catering, providing all of the essentials needed to prepare a meal with gas cooking and hot water provided for that morning brew.
A variety of dining options are also available nearby in Methven.
Horoi / Wash
The bathroom inside of the retreat features all of the essentials including handmade copper tapware, gas hot water shower, vessel basin and a composting toilet.
Please enjoy the New Zealand made biodegradable amenities that are provided for your use.
Hiko / Power
The cabin is fully off-grid and is powered by the sun. This system is designed to power the lighting and fridge with phone charging and a power outlet available for guests. We only ask that you be mindful by conserving your energy use during your stay. Mobile phone reception is available at the cabin, depending on your provider.
Pūmāhu / Heat
There is a small wood-burning fire in the cabin to ensure that your stay is comfortable even on cold winter nights.
Hōpara / Explore
Surrounded by walking tracks and local attractions there is no excuse for getting cabin fever at this retreat.
Enjoy the native bush walks of the Te Awa Awa Rata Reserve located only a stroll from the cabin.
For a more accelerated experience then hit the pedals or the slopes with both the Mt Hutt Bike Park and Mt Hutt Ski Area conveniently located only 2km away.
For more adventuring in the great outdoors enjoy the local offerings of Heli Boarding, Jet Boating, Golf and Fishing.
This retreat is a smoke-free, adults-only and dog-free accommodation experience.
The cabin is located on a working farm, with farm related and natural hazards. For your own safety please do not touch any farm machinery, and do not enter any buildings on the property.
